Eastern
Maine Medical Center

Eastern Maine Medical Center's (EMMC) C.A.P. Building, located
in Bangor, Maine, is a four-story, 36,000 square foot structure.
The first floor offers ground level parking that services the building.
The second floor remains undeveloped for future hospital expansion.
Occupying the third floor is the Center for Ambulatory Procedures.
The C.A.P. section is comprised of six emergency procedure operating
theaters, pre-op rooms, endoscopy treatment rooms, nurses' stations,
and associated waiting rooms. Medical equipment is contained on
the fourth floor along with a pilots lounge to serve Med-Vac Life
flight crews that use the "state-of-the-art" Helicopter
landing pad. The helipad, which encompasses a large part of the
roof, includes six miles of heat tube encased in the top roof slab.
This heating system is computer controlled and is sensitive to both
temperature and moisture; thus assuring a safe landing surface at
all times. This was truly a collaboration on a uniquely challenging
project.
